Last month, Deadpool actor Ryan Reynolds expressed interest in being a part of the new Ottawa Senators ownership group. He mentioned while on 'The Tonight Show' that he was exploring the possibility and one day later appeared at the Canadian Tire Centre for Ottawa's game against the Vancouver Canucks, his hometown team.

According to Bruce Garrioch of The Ottawa Sun, the National Hockey League has told parties that are interested in bidding for the Senators, that they want Ryan Reynold a part of the project as a minority owner. The NHL also told the parties to contact Reynolds before entering the process of bidding for the franchise.

Garrioch added that Reynolds has been speaking with prospective bidders over the last few weeks to see which group he would fit in best with and that he is interested in joining.

The NHL reportedly also wants Reynolds' production company, Maximum Effort, to document the sale of the franchise, similar to what was shown during the FX docuseries 'Welcome to Wrexham'.

As of November 1st, the Ottawa Senators are valued at $655 million by Sportico, although once the team is sold, it's expected the final price will exceed that.
