The 2011 Stanley Cup Finals stand - to this day - as one of the fiercest, most hated series in NHL history; certainly in recent memory. The Boston Bruins and the Vancouver Canucks hatred really began after Aaron Rome's huge, late hit on Nathan Horton:

The ferocity raged on throughout the series until the Bruins eventually took the series and the Cup in 7 games. The drama, however, still carries on to this day. Zdeno Chara recently recalled certain events surrounding the series, and at least one former Canuck took exception.

Chara made an appearance on retired NFL wide receiver Julien Edelman's podcast, Games with Names, and he made some less than dull accusations.

"After losing two games in Vancouver, we saw players from Vancouver coming on the ice in the Garden, and they were actually practising how they would be lifting the Cup and handing off the Cup to each other," Chara said. "And we found out about these things and we were like 'fuck this, we are not going to allow this to happen.' It just fueled us."

Kevin Bieksa, a veteran member of that very Canucks team fired back, saying that the events Chara recalled never happened. Adding further gas on this proverbial fire.

Chara had some other bits to say too, including that the Canucks players had called the NHL, asking how many friends and family were allowed on the ice after they win the Stanley Cup; basically counting their chickens before they hatched.

The hosts asked Chara if he felt the Canucks were a dirty team, to which he replied: "I wouldn't say dirty, they were just like maybe a little bit too, how should I say, maybe cocky is not the right word, but they were having a chip on their shoulders. They had some players that had some reputation of being role players and agitators, and not really backing up the way they played. But they were good players, it was like they did some stuff that really really fueled us."
