The New Jersey Devils have been - without question - the biggest surprise of the 2022-23 season through their first 17 games. New Jersey is 14-3 on an 11-game win-streak, and they boast a +22 goal-differential; T-2nd in the NHL behind only Boston.

Devils fans know, however, it wasn't always like this. After the dynastic years in which they won three Stanley Cups ('95, '00, '03), things haven't been easy for New Jersey. They've made the playoffs just twice since 2012 when they lost in the Stanley Cup Finals to the L.A. Kings and have spent more time as a lottery team than a competitive one.

Devils captain Nico Hischier joined the NHL Network to discuss his group's amazing run to start the season. Hischier says he never doubted his group and that - despite a rough couple of seasons - this is a talented group with lots of skill and lots to prove.
