The Montreal Canadiens announced on Tuesday morning that forward Joel Armia and Jonathan Drouin would not play against the Devils due to upper-body injuries.

It's still unclear how long the two are expected to be out for, but Canadiens General Manager Kent Hughes provided a bit of clarity while meeting with the media at the GM meetings.

Hughes told reporters that Armia's injury occurred during Saturday's overtime win against the Pittsburgh Penguins and that he isn't expected to be out for too long. As for Drouin, Hughes expects him to be out of the line-up for a bit longer than Armia, but didn't elaborate any further.

Armia, 29, missed the first few weeks of the 2022-23 season due to an upper-body injury he sustained during the pre-season. In seven games this season, he's failed to record any points, has two penalty minutes and is a minus-three.

Drouin, 27, has appeared in 12 games this season and has put up four assists and is a minus-four. The Sainte-Agathe (Quebec) native is set to become an unrestricted free agent on July 1st, so the Canadiens are more than likely hoping that his injury won't keep him out too long, that way he can showcase what he can bring to a team's line-up leading up to March 3rd's trade deadline.
