Nikita Zaitsev & his dad harass fan over memes

Ottawa Senators defenseman Nikita Zaitsev has had a rough go of things in the early stages of the 2022-23 season.

The 31-year-old has been a major whipping boy for Senators fans, who aren't happy with his underwhelming play paired with his $4.5 million salary. It appears the organization hasn't been thrilled, either, as they chose to place him on waivers less than a week ago.

That decision, mixed with criticism from fans, appears to be weighing on the Russian defenseman, who took exception to a meme a fan made, which knocked his play. Zaitsev chose to reach out to the fan via Instagram dms, asking him to meet face to face. That wasn't all, either, as the defenseman's dad also reached out to the person in charge of making the meme, and had some less than pleasant things to say about the individual.
