The Calgary Flames haven't gotten off to the start many had hoped in 2022-23, and a part of the reason for that may be the absence of Oliver Kylington.

The 25-year-old defenseman, who was given a two-year extension this offseason, has yet to play in 2022-23 due to a personal issue. What that personal issue is hasn't been released to the public, but on Monday afternoon general manager Brad Treliving did speak on the Swedish blue liner.
"At this time Oliver remains in Sweden," Treliving said. "We want to give him space, time and privacy to deal with the things he's going through. I've been in touch with him on a fairly regular basis, but there's no update. We continue to ask people to respect his privacy."

Kylington experienced a breakout year in 2021-22, recording a career high 31 points in 73 games. The belief was that he be in the Flames top four this season, though that has been unable to happen. Hopefully he can soon get back to doing what he does best, as his team sure could use him.
