Senators defenseman and alternate captain Thomas Chabot will reportedly miss at least a week to a concussion sustained during Saturday's matinee against the Philadelphia Flyers:

Concussions can certainly be tricky and can result in longer recovery periods than the initial suggests. Chabot was leveled by Travis Konecny yesterday:
The Sens have three games scheduled in the next week, all in Ottawa:
- Monday vs. NYI
- Wednesday vs. BUF
- Saturday vs. NJD
It has been speculated that this news could serve as a catalyst for GM Pierre Dorion to finally pull the trigger on a defenseman after months of dancing around it. Who that defender is and what Dorion pays for him is the question.
Jakub Chychrun was the name out there for a while, but that seems for not. Perhaps another Coyote in Shayne Gostisbehere could be had at a reasonable price, or maybe there could be a deal with Vancouver. The Canucks' season is virtually over and there is a huge need to move money. There could be a fit there.
For now, the Senators are in serious trouble, though. An already questionable defense just got much, much worse, and the clock is ticking for the Senators to right the ship.
