A horrific scene after a bus transporting a hockey team crashed with a tractor trailer Saturday night near Chicago. According to reports, 16 members of the Chicago's Saint Ignatius College Prep's hockey team were sent to hospital. Three of them are dealing with injuries considered to be critical.

According to WGN TV, the bus hit a semi "with New Jersey registration that ran a red light and was driving unstably. At the same time, police reported that they received a phone call of a semi-truck speeding, swerving into other lanes and driving off the roadway."

It is now being reported that the driver of the semi is in police custody and suspected of driving under the influence of alcohol. Police said the semi didn't even stop after the accident, but instead continued on until driving into a ditch. The bus with the hockey team was on its side when police arrived.

The Chicago Blackhawks have sent out a message through social media asking people to keep the hockey team members in their thoughts.

There were 23 people on the bus in total. The President of St. Ignatius released the following statement:

"We will get through this together. Our heartfelt thoughts and prayers are with them."
