After 16 seasons in the NHL, and 1050 regular season games, Loui Eriksson is headed home to continue his hockey career. Eriksson, 37, has a signed on until the end of this season with Frolunda of the Swedish Hockey League (SHL).

"We have had an ongoing dialogue with Loui Eriksson since the summer and now we got it together," said Frolunda director Fredrik Sjöström. "We wanted Loui and he was eager and excited, he is really passionate about Frolunda."

"I've always said that if I'm whole and healthy, I want to end my career in Frölunda," said Eriksson.

Eriksson, who hasn't played a game since April 29th of this year, will begin training with the team right away and will be inserted into the lineup as soon as everyone involved feels he's ready.

The signing means a reunion with fellow Swede Joel Lundqvist, who played with Eriksson in Dallas before he left the NHL in 2009. Lundqvist had been asking Frolunda to sign Eriksson since the offseason.

This is most likely the end of Eriksson's NHL career. He played for four teams in total - Dallas, Boston, Vancouver, and Arizona - and racked up 253 goals and 613 points. His best seasons came with the Stars, when he had three 70+ point seasons in a row from 2009 to 2012. He would never hit the 70 point mark again, although he did get 60+ once with the Bruins.
