This has all the making of a public relations dream for the Ottawa Senators, and the NHL as a whole. Hollywood star Ryan Reynolds has made it very clear he's interested in buying the team, and the reception he got after showing up at a game unannounced shows the fans are digging it.

About an hour before the start of the game between the Sens and Vancouver Canucks, CTV leaked that Reynolds was planning to be in attendance. It makes sense since Reynolds grew up in Vancouver and is a fan. When his name was mentioned over the PA, the crowd was ready.

While there are rumoured to be several parties interested in buying the Ottawa Senators, having a well-liked celebrity such as Reynolds as the owner of a team could do wonders for promoting the league, especially in the US where hockey ranks much lower on the popularity scale than other major sports.
