There was plenty of concern earlier this season when Jake Muzzin suffered a head/neck injury early, and despite several weeks having passed since, the concern is still very much alive.
Appearing on a segment of Insider Trading on Thursday afternoon, Chris Johnston spoke about the Toronto Maple Leafs defenseman, and shed some light on the 33-year-old's playing future.
"Jake Muzzin was in California to see a specialist last week looking at the head and neck area where he has had a number of injuries and I can tell you there is legitimate concern of what the next hit could look like if he were to return."
This is obviously both a frightening and frustrating decision for Muzzin, who may soon be forced to make a decision one way or the other when it comes to the future of his playing career. That said, he may still continue to take some time and remain on long-term injured reserve in order to seek out other opinions. The 683-game veteran has appeared in just four outings this season, registering a lone assist.
