Shane Wright has had a rough start to his NHL career, going all the way back to the draft where he fell to fourth overall after spending more than two years atop the draft rankings. All in all, I have a hunch it'll work out for all parties involved, but that doesn't mean the situation is immune to growing pains.

Wright has been scratched for 3 straight games, which is undoubtedly frustrating for the player. Guy wants to play, hard to blame him; but the Kraken are playing well with their current lineup, going 2-1 in that span. Including a 5-4 barn burner against Vancouver.

As for Wright, I really do feel for the guy. He was forced to take the better part of two years off during the pandemic - two critical development years - and getting game action has to be the top priority.
Like Marek said, though, Francis has the option of sending Wright to the OHL if he won't get adequate NHL time but follows it up by saying the Kraken GM does not want to go that route. And as long as the team is winning, convincing the head coach to put Wright back in could prove difficult...
