Suiting up for your hometown team in the National Hockey League is the dream of any player growing up and likely was the same for Max Domi.

Domi also had the luxury of not only growing up in Toronto, but also being around the Maple Leafs, as his dad, Tie, spent parts of 11 seasons with the organization.
This past summer, Max Domi became an unrestricted free agent and according to Nick Kypreos, the Maple Leafs were not only interested in signing him, but went as far as offering him a contract. Kypreos added that the money was significantly less than he was offered by the Chicago Blackhawks, who he ultimately signed with on July 14th.
Domi, 27, is off to a great start to the 2022-23 season. In nine games, he's recorded seven points (four goals, three assists), 25 penalty minutes and is a plus-one. The highlight of his season thus far was scoring the overtime winner on October 21st against Detroit.
With the former first round pick only signing a one-year deal with Chicago, he'll hit the open market once again when free agency opens on Canada Day. Maybe this time, Kyle Dubas, or whoever may be the Maple Leafs General Manager at that time, takes a shot at signing him.
