Andreas Athanasiou Burns Marc-Andre Fleury with Goal-of-the-Year Candidate

The Chicago Blackhawks have been wildly surprising this season. I guess no team can be considered out when they've got Patrick Kane and friends, but this team wholly embraced the tank-job this summer. Yet, they are sitting in a playoff spot ten games in, with a 4-3-2 record after tonight.

They pushed the Minnesota Wild into a shootout tonight, and Andreas Athanasiou's highlight reel goal was a huge boost in their efforts. They eventually fell in said shootout, but for them that is probably a good thing. The Hawks are a lottery team, regardless of how they are playing right now.

Still, this was absolutely disgusting.

Athanasiou turned Matt Dumb inside out and picked Marc-Andre Fleury glove-side in one swift motion. Pretty impressive.

As it stands, this is probably the goal of the year until someone tops it. Luckily for us, there is still lots of hockey to be played.
