Just a little over a month after signing a contract with Traktor Chelyabinsk of the KHL for the 2022-23 season, goaltender Andrew Hammond is headed back home. The team says his contract has been terminated at his request.

"The contract with Andrew Hammond was terminated at the initiative of the hockey player. Today he returns home to North America. We thank Andrew for his honest work and wish him success in the future," said Ivan Savin, general manager of Chelyabinsk.

Both of Hammond's games with Traktor were losses. His GAA for those two games was 4.33, while he had a .851 save percentage. No specific reason was given for his departure from Russia.

Hammond played 11 games in the NHL last season with New Jersey and the Montreal Canadiens. He also played another 11 games in the AHL with Iowa. Hammond, 34, has played a total of 67 regular season games in the NHL throughout his career. Besides the Devils and Habs, he also played for Colorado and Ottawa.
