It is no secret just how great Cale Makar is. Somehow drafted fourth-overall in 2017, Makar's career trajectory has him on pace to win like a hundred Stanley Cups, Conn Smythes, Norris Trophies and whatever else gets caught in the gravity well.

The guy is simply sensational. Wayne Gretzky dubbed the Avs' defender as the closest thing we've seen to Bobby Orr. Statistically, that analysis not only holds water; it might even undersell just how dominant Makar has been.

According to a recent graphic from the NHL, Makar needs just 20 points in his next 28 games to set the all-time record among defensemen for fewest games to reach 200 points.

Makar has 180 points in 178 games (1.01 points/game) needs to hit the 20-point mark before game 207 to steal the top spot from Sergei Zubov, who was recently into the Hockey Hall of Fame.

For what it's worth, Makar needs to score at just 70% his normal rate to make it happen. So, if Makar's scoring rate mirrors my college GPA, he will be the fastest defenseman to 200 points ever.

Seems pretty likely if you ask me.
