In today's arguably least shocking news, Darryl Sutter is burying Sonny Milano in the lineup for tonight's preseason match against Seattle. Milano is slated to skate alongside Adam Ruzicka and Brett Ritchie on the Flames' fourth line:

That is hardly a suitable position for Milano given his skillset. Perhaps this one lineup is not worth blowing out of proportion, but considering Milano is on a PTO and Calgary needs a ~top~ six winger, this is a strange deployment.

Deploying Milano with Elias Lindholm or Nazem Kadri makes infinitely more sense, given the team's lack of puck-skill at left wing.

Calgary's head coach said during today's press conference he prefers to keep Blake Coleman and Mikael Backlund together. So a top-six slot is most definitely available.

Sutter is probably just making the American earn his ice, but this just feels like the wrong way to handle this situation. Especially, when two Americans just left this offseason.

Anyway, hopefully for Milano he earns a chance in a scoring role and shows his stuff.
