The Chicago Blackhawks traded one of their upcoming stars to the Montreal Canadiens this offseason in Kirby Dach, and a couple of their veteran leaders have spoken out about all of the shenanigans.

The Hawks long-time captain, Jonathan Toews, spoke out about the Dach trade; at first, he was not happy. In fact, he was quite angry when the trade was announced. As the months have now passed, Toews is starting to understand why, although many fans still cannot wrap their minds around it. According to the Athletic's Mark Lazerus, Toews respects what Kyle Davidson is doing even with the odd trades occurring.

Along with this, Toews does think that Dach, "arguably maybe didn't ever quite get his fair shot in Chicago." Even though he averaged roughly 18 minutes of TOI a night, and played mostly on a line with Kane and DeBrincat, he did get bounced around the lineup quite a bit. As a young player it makes the transition ever more difficult into the NHL. His second most common linemates were Philipp Kurashev and MacKenzie Entwistle, who are obviously nowhere near the skillset of Kane and DeBrincat.

For most people, this would seem like a fair shot, but Toews has been known to fight for his teammates and Dach was another guy that he fought for. In the end, Dach ended up on another team, but this will not be the end of Toews being a classy leader who will go to war for his teammates.
