The Capitals announced their training camp roster on Tuesday evening and there was a familiar name on the list.

Washington has signed the son of head coach Peter Laviolette, also named Peter, to a professional try-out contract (PTO). Earlier this summer, Peter was at Washington's development camp and must have impressed the management staff enough to earn a PTO.

Laviolette, 24, completed his fourth season at Plymouth State University in the spring. Plymouth State are a Divison-3 school in the NCAA. In 27 games, the Nashville native had 26 points (11 goals, 15 assists), 24 penalty minutes and was a plus-13.

This must be a very proud moment for the entire Laviolette family. It will be interesting to see if Laviolette will be able to possibly land a contract in the AHL once training camp ends.
