The St. Louis Blues were dealt a big blow on the eve of training camp, with the news that defenceman Marco Scandella will miss at least six months after suffering an injury to his right hip joint.

The team added that Scandella suffered the injury during a workout in the off-season. He will undergo surgery today and his status will be re-evaluated in six months, which would be mid-March.

Scandella, 32, has spent parts of the last three seasons with the Blues after he was traded from Montreal to St. Louis in February 2020. In 70 games last season, the Montreal native had 14 points (three goals, 11 assists), 18 penalty minutes and was a plus-17.
