Former Leaf Tyson Barrie pokes fun at Mitch Marner over what was likely a traumatic experience
Former Toronto Maple Leaf Tyson Barrie certainly didn't hold back while taking what I think was meant to be a friendly shot at an old teammate. Current Leaf Mitch Marner has a paid sponsorship post circulating on Instagram right now with Land Rover Canada where he hocks the latest Range Rover. It contains a comment from Austin Matthews, tons of fans, and Barrie, who decided to get a bit dark with his take.
When I first saw it, I assumed he must have been referring to something else that I wasn't aware of and not poking fun at the fact that Marner was carjacked in April of this year by three suspects. Two of them had handguns, while the third had a knife. Marner's fiancé was with him at the time. Then I looked at the responses to Barrie's comment and could see everyone acknowledging the obvious tie-in. I'm not sure if the now member of the Edmonton Oilers has that kind of relationship with his old teammate, or if he just decided to let one fly. Either way, savage!
