The Toronto Maple Leafs' whole identity in 2022 is the NHL's largest team (by volume) who hasn't won a Stanley Cup since 1967 nor a playoff series since 2004. Leafs fans ride a wave of excitement each year, yet somehow they are always let down.

If you told me with absolute conviction that the Toronto Maple Leafs were cursed, I would probably buy into that. Their meltdowns have been almost glorious in a weird way. If failure breeds toughness, Leafs' fans are simply a different breed.

Auston Matthews appeared on Sportsnet's 'Tim and Friends' and had one idea to try and fix the vibe in the room. Since 2018, the Maple Leafs have played Hall & Oates' 'You Make My Dreams (Come True)' after every goal, and Matthews suggests the time has come for a shake-up.

"I don't know, I wouldn't mind hearing something different...just change it up...I'm always open to change."

It sure sounds like Matthews is sick of Hall & Oates and wants to change. The Leafs' vibes are not great, although the group should have confidence in themselves after going seven games with the Tampa Bay Lightning. They cannot make any excuses if they want to win a Stanley Cup because they will have to advance past Tampa, Florida and likely one of the powerhouse teams in the Metropolitan Division.

The old adage rings true; if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

But the Toronto Maple Leafs ain't working, so maybe changing the goal song would not be the worst idea. Although, something tells me Justin Bieber might not be the answer.

Having said that, if they did elect to turn to one of Bieber's many hits, that could have a certain allure. Bieber is from Toronto, he is one of the most recognizable brands in the world, and he recently announced his diagnosis of Ramsay Hunt syndrome. Slotting JB into their goal song could be a great show of solidarity, and could help shift the vibe in the room.

It would get properly dunked on by the hockey community, though, no doubt.
