Less than a week after losing Jonathan Dahlen, who signed a five-year contract with Timra IK, the San Jose Sharks have lost another prospect to the Swedish Hockey League.

On Tuesday, Vaxjo Lakers HC announced that forward Jayden Halbgewachs has agreed to terms on a contract for the 2022-23 season.

"I'm really looking forward to getting there, meeting everyone and becoming part of the Lakers! I think it will be a great opportunity for me to grow and develop as a player. I think I can help this team go far in the playoffs this season, hopefully all the way and win SM gold." Halbgewachs said.

The 25-year-old was signed by the Sharks as an undrafted free agent in December 2017. In his final season of junior before turning pro, Halbgewachs tore up the WHL, recording 129 points (70 goals, 59 assists) in 72 games.

The Regina native spent the majority of his time in the American Hockey League with the Sharks' affiliate, the San Jose Barracuda. He finally made his NHL debut on December 17th 2021 against the Vancouver Canucks and appeared in two more games with the big club before spending the rest of the season in the AHL.
