The Score releases NHL team tier rankings

After a crazy NHL offseason that saw a plethora of trades, draft slides, and free agency insanity, popular sports website The Score released their rankings of NHL teams by tiers.

The rankings were first broke in half with the bottom sixteen and top sixteen, before being condensed more into worst of the worst, head barely above water, notch below the playoffs, standings purgatory, moderately dangerous, scary at full potential, secondary cup favorites, and primary cup favorites. Below is how all 32 franchises were ranked.

Worst of the worst (Tier 8)

Arizona Coyotes, Chicago Blackhawks

Head barely above water (Tier 7)

Montreal Canadiens, San Jose Sharks

Notch below the playoffs (Tier 6)

Philadelphia Flyers, Anaheim Ducks, Seattle Kraken, Buffalo Sabres

Standings Purgatory (Tier 5)

Ottawa Senators, Winnipeg Jets, Detroit Red Wings, New York Islanders, Columbus Blue Jackets, New Jersey Devils, Dallas Stars, Vancouver Canucks

Moderately dangerous (Tier 4)

Nashville Predators, Boston Bruins, Washington Capitals, Vegas Golden Knights, Los Angeles Kings

Scary at full potential (Tier 3)

Minnesota Wild, Pittsburgh Penguins, St. Louis Blues, Toronto Maple Leafs

Secondary Cup favorites (Tier 2)

Edmonton Oilers, New York Rangers, Calgary Flames, Florida Panthers

Primary Cup favorites (Tier 1)

Colorado Avalanche, Carolina Hurricanes, Tampa Bay Lightning
