Jimmy Vesey will have an opportunity to earn a contract with one of his former clubs this Fall.

According to CapFriendly, the New York Rangers have signed the unrestricted free agent forward to a professional tryout contract. Vesey will attend training camp with the Rangers and will likely feature in the majority of their six pre-season games later this month.

Vesey, 29, was originally drafted by Nashville in 2012 but opted not to sign with them and became an unrestricted free agent in August 2016. There were several teams looking to land the 2015-16 Hobey Baker Award winner, but it was the New York Rangers who ultimately signed him to an entry-level contract.

The Boston native went on to appear in three seasons with the Rangers before moving on to play for Buffalo, Toronto, Vancouver and most recently, New Jersey.

In 422-career games, Vesey has recorded 135 points (72 goals, 63 assists), 104 penalty minutes and is a minus-63.
