Selanne, 52, spent parts of the first four seasons of his career in Winnipeg after the Jets took him tenth overall in the 1988 NHL Entry Draft. In 231 career games in Winnipeg, Selanne had 306 points (147 goals, 159 assists), 87 penalty minutes and was a minus-eleven. During his first season in 1992-93, Selanne set the NHL record for most goals by a rookie with 76, a record that still stands today.
As for Numminen, he spent the first eight seasons of his career with Winnipeg, who drafted him in the second round in 1986. He then accompanied the team to Phoenix in 1996 when they relocated and became the Coyotes' second captain in 2001. The best season of his career came during the 1995-96 campaign, the team's final year in Winnipeg, where he put up 54 points (eleven goals, 43 assists in 74 games.
Selanne and Numminen will be honoured prior to puck drop on Thursday, November 17th against the Anaheim Ducks.
