The Ottawa Senators today announced they have agreed to terms on a four-year, $11.8 million contract ($2.95M AAV):

Joseph was acquired by the Senators in March of this year after playing 221 games for the Tampa Bay Lightning. He scored 12 points in 11 games for Ottawa, so for them to sign him for under $3M/year is a quality deal for the team. He's only scored 82 points in 232 NHL games, but most of those were spent in a checking role for the Lightning. If he can develop a consistent scoring touch for the Senators, this could be the best contract in the NHL.

His underlying analytics are exceptional story. On top of scoring at an adequate pace per sixty-minutes, Joseph also sports a stellar defensive record, an above-average penalty differential, and an acumen for killing penalties. Joseph is a player every coach would appreciate, and ought to be a key player for the Ottawa Senators, as they look to take a step forward in 2022-23.
