After three seasons with the Los Angeles Kings and their American Hockey League affiliate, the Ontario Reign, unrestricted free agent forward Martin Frk has signed a one-year, two-way contract with the St. Louis Blues.

The Pelhrimov (Czechia) native had a strong 2021-22 campaign in the AHL with the Reign, putting up career-highs in multiple categories. In 58 games, Frk put up 73 points (40 goals, 33 assists), 73 penalty minutes and was a plus-sixteen. Frk added five points in five games during the 2022 Calder Cup Playoffs.

Prior to joining the Kings organization in 2019, he spent parts of five seasons in the Red Wings system after they selected him in the second-round in 2012. For a few weeks in the Fall of 2016, Frk was with the Carolina Hurricanes. They claimed him off waivers on October 9th, but on November 1st, the Red Wings claimed him back.

Frk, 28, took the hockey world by storm for a brief period of time in early-2020 after he set the AHL record for hardest shot at the Skills Competition with a 109.2 MPH heater. Not only was it the hardest recorded in an AHL Skills Competition, it was the hardest in North America, beating Zdeno Chara's 108.8 MPH shot in 2012.
