The Detroit Red Wings announced on Wednesday that they've signed 2022 first round pick Marco Kasper to a three-year, entry-level contract.

Kasper, 18, was selected eighth overall last Thursday by the Red Wings. He spent the 2021-22 season in Sweden's top division, the SHL, with Rogle BK. In 46 SHL games, Kasper tallied eleven points (seven goals, four assists), seventeen penalty minutes and was a minus-ten.

Following Detroit's development camp, Kasper is likely heading back to Austria to meet up with the U20 national team as they prepare for the 2022 IIHF World Hockey Championship, which begins on August 9th in Edmonton.
