According to Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman, the Pittsburgh Penguins have reportedly agreed to terms on a six-year contract worth $30 million ($5 million AAV).

Rakell, 29, was acquired by the Penguins at the trade deadline in March from the Anaheim Ducks in exchange for Calle Clang, Dominik Simon, Zach Aston-Reese and a second round pick in the 2022 NHL Entry Draft.

The Sundbyberg (Sweden) native appeared in nineteen regular season games with the Penguins following the trade, recording thirteen points (four goals, nine assists), four penalty minutes and was a plus seven.

Last week, the Penguins re-signed Kris Letang for six years and now Rickard Rakell for six years, but didn't want to give the same term to one of the best players in franchise history, Evgeni Malkin. It was revealed earlier on Monday that Malkin will test the open market on Wednesday for the first time in his career.
