National Hockey League releases schedule for 2022-23 season

The National Hockey League announced its 2022-23 schedule on Wednesday afternoon. The 2022-23 season will begin on Friday, October 7th when the San Jose Sharks and Nashville Predators meet at O2 Arena in Prague. They'll then face each other the next day in Prague, once again.

On October 11th, the season will begin in North America, with the Tampa Bay Lightning returning to Madison Square Garden for an Eastern Conference Final rematch with the New York Rangers. In the nightcap, the Vegas Golden Knights will head to Los Angeles to take on the Kings.

The NHL's annual Black Friday/Thanksgiving Showdown will occur on November 25th with Pittsburgh vs Philadelphia at 5 p.m. ET and Tampa Bay vs St. Louis at 7:30 p.m. ET. Several other afternoon games will be played on that day as is the case every year.

Among the key events taking place in the 2022-23 schedule, the Boston Bruins will host the Pittsburgh Penguins at Fenway Park on January 2nd at 2 p.m. ET for the 2023 NHL Winter Classic. On February 18th, the Carolina Hurricanes will make their outdoor game debut when they host the Washington Capitals in the 2023 Stadium Series at 8 p.m. ET.

The Florida Panthers will host the 2023 NHL All-Star Game on February 4th, with the Skills Competition being held the day before on February 3rd.

Hockey Day In Canada is on January 21st with all seven Canadian teams in action, with Edmonton vs Vancouver, Montreal vs Toronto, Ottawa vs Winnipeg and Calgary vs Tampa Bay as the four matchups.

The 2022-23 schedule will conclude on Thursday, April 13th with fifteen games on tap.
