NHL players are some of the toughest athletes on the planet, playing through injuries in order to chase their dream of lifting the Stanley Cup.

On Wednesday, the Colorado Avalanche revealed the list of injuries they were dealing with during their run to a third Stanley Cup in franchise history.

As we knew, Nazem Kadri had a broken thumb and underwent surgery to fix it on June 6th. Three days later, Andrew Cogliano had surgery on one of his fingers. Both players would end up appearing the Stanley Cup Final despite their hand issues.

Another injury we knew about was Samuel Girard, who broke his sternum in Game 3 of Colorado's second round series against the St. Louis Blues. He went on to miss the remainder of Colorado's playoff run.

Valeri Nichushkin was seen walking into Game 6 with a limp and his right foot in flip flop and his left foot in a normal dress shoe. This made many wonder if he would even suit up for Sunday's game, which he did, but the 27-year-old revealed that he broke his foot and needed help to get his skate on in order to play.

Andre Burakovsky had a broken foot and broken thumb, forcing him to miss the majority of the Stanley Cup Final. Also on forward, Darren Helm suffered an abdominal tear but was able to push through it and continued playing.

In goal, Darcy Kuemper, who suffered an eye injury in the second round against St. Louis, had to go to an optometrist multiple times a day in order to "re-train his eye", according to head coach Jared Bednar.

Now that the season is over and the celebrations begin in Denver, these players will be able to focus on their recovery before they get ready for training camp for the 2022-23 season in mid-September.
