After a career year offensively at the age of 26, a very tough break for Anthony Duclair of the Florida Panthers. According to several reports, Duclair is looking at surgery for an Achilles tendon injury. If he decides to get it, his recovery may take months.

During his end-of-the-year interview, Panthers GM Bill Zito said no one on the roster required surgery at that time. It appears Duclair's injury was suffered during offseason training.

Duclair was a force for Florida during the regular season in 2021-22. He scored 31 goals and 27 assists for 58 points in 74 games, career highs across the board. His play did drop off somewhat in the postseason, where he managed one goal and two assists in eight games. Duclair is signed on with the Panthers for two more seasons at an annual cap hit of $3 million, an absolute steal if he can continue his pace from last season.
