Travis Green has been out of work since being fired as the head coach of the Vancouver Canucks back in early December, but it sounds as though his unemployment stint may not last long.

According to Dallas Stars owner Tom Gaglardi, Green is a serious candidate they are considering as they begin their coaching search. This comes shortly after Rick Bowness announced he was stepping down after their Round 1 loss to the Calgary Flames.

"I think he would be a candidate," Gaglardi said on Donnie and Dhali CHEK TV. "Travis has proven he deserves to be considered. I expect we will we talking to him."

Green, 51, became the head coach of the Canucks back in 2017-18 after years of coaching their American Hockey League club in the Utica Comets. He missed the playoffs in his first two years with the organization but was able to win two rounds with them in the 2020 Stanley Cup Playoffs, the first of which was a qualifying round due to the COVID-19 postseason circumstances. During his five seasons with the Canucks, he coached a total of 314 games for a 133-147-34 record. He also has plenty of playing experience at the NHL level, having accumulated 970 career games in which he scored 193 goals and 455 points.
