Free agent defenceman Christian Jaros reportedly heading to the KHL

According to Sport24, a Russian media outlet, free agent defenceman Christian Jaros is heading to the KHL and will be signing with Avangard Omsk.

"As it became known to Sport24, defender Christian Jaros will move to Avangard.

Last season, the 26-year-old hockey player played for New Jersey, in which he played 11 games and scored no points.

In total, the Slovak has 94 matches in the NHL. In addition to the Devils, Jaros played for San Jose and Ottawa."

Jaros, a native of Kosice (Slovakia) had his contract terminated by the New Jersey Devils on March 24th after clearing unconditional waivers. He spent parts of five seasons in the National Hockey League with Ottawa, San Jose, and New Jersey where he had fourteen points (one goal, thirteen assists) and 37 penalty minutes in 94-career games.

The 26-year-old will now look to play consistent hockey after only appearing in 29 games between the NHL and AHL since January 2021.
