New York Rangers defenceman Jacob Trouba gave his side of the story Thursday after knocking Pittsburgh Penguins star Sidney Crosby out of game five of their first round series, and possibly longer. Trouba was first asked if he was worried about a call from the Department of Player Safety.

"No, not really. At the time, I didn't know that was the play that he got injured on," said Trouba, referring to his hit on Crosby. "So, no."

It's already been reported that the league will not be handing out any punishment to Trouba for the hit, and there was no call on the play. As for Trouba, he says it was a complete accident.

"I tried going stick on puck when he was going to shoot," said Trouba. "The stick kind of went between his legs and kind of hit his thigh, and I pushed my arm up. It was kind of a fluky play."

"You don't ever want to see a guy get hurt," Trouba added. "I don't know exactly what the injury is, but hopefully he's better soon."

The Pens have announced that Crosby has an upper-body injury. However, more evaluation is needed to determine if he'll be out and for how long. Game six goes Friday night. Pittsburgh leads the series 3-2.
