During the first period of Friday's game between Tampa Bay and Toronto, NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman told reporters that he expects that they'll be able to return to a normal league schedule for the 2022-23 campaign.

"Gary Bettman -- speaking to reporters during the first intermission in Tampa -- says he expects the NHL to return to a "normal" pre-Covid league calendar for the 2022-23 season." TSN's Chris Johnston said.

Prior to the last two seasons, the NHL's calendar looked something like this.

Mid-September: Training camps open
Early-October: Regular season begins.
Late-January: All-Star Weekend.
Early-to-mid March: Trade deadline.
Early-April: Regular season concludes.
Mid-April: Stanley Cup Playoffs begin.
Mid-June: Stanley Cup Playoffs conclude.
Late-June: NHL Entry Draft.
July 1st: Free Agency opens.

The NHL's calendar for the 2022-23 season is likely to be completed at some point in the early part of the summer, so we'll have to wait a little while to see if they will return to a normal calendar after all.
