The Carolina Hurricanes took Game 2 on Wednesday night by a score of 5-2, but did so with one of their goalies getting injured and another involved in a slashing battle with Brad Marchand.

Bruins forward David Pastrnak collided with Hurricanes netminder Antti Raanta during the first period on Wednesday. Pastrnak's glove hit Raanta in the head causing his mouth to bleed. Raanta left the game and did not return.

With Raanta now out of the game, and number one goaltender Frederik Andersen still injured, the Hurricanes had to turn to rookie Pyotr Kochetkov.

Kochetkov played really well, making 30 saves on 32 shots to earn his first playoff win, but in the second period, he got into it with Bruins forward Brad Marchand after the whistle. Both Kochetkov and Marchand received two-minute penalties for slashing, while the latter received a $5,000 fine from the NHL's Department of Player Safety.

Hurricanes Head Coach Rod Brind'Amour believes that the Bruins are targeting his goaltenders.

"Well, what do you think? Can't get any more obvious," Brind'Amour said.

Meanwhile, Bruins Head Coach Bruce Cassidy called the play a freak accident and didn't believe there was any intent from Pastrnak to injure Antti Raanta.

"His foot caught his pad, he's trying to block the clear but get out of the way," Cassidy said. "I don't think there was any intent there at all."

The Hurricanes will look to take a stranglehold on the series tonight as they head to TD Garden in Boston for Game 3 on Friday night. Puck drop is set for 7 p.m. ET on Sportsnet360 in Canada and TNT in the United States.
