The sister of a 26-year-old hockey player who was murdered in the Chelyabinsk area of Russia early Monday morning is denying reports that her brother and the killer argued before his death. Nikolai Sharov's sister Margarita told a Russian media outlet that her brother and the shooter were on good terms.

"Nikolai did not clash with anyone, he stood up for people. Everything they write on websites that he fought with the killer is not true. My brother was on good terms with him," she said. "The killer arrived, immediately started shooting in the street, indoors he shot at a table. My brother got up to either calm him down or shut people down, he was communicating with him and did not think he would shoot him."

According to police in the area, Sharov was killed after an argument at a bar. The suspect allegedly went home, grabbed a hunting rifle, and came back to the bar where he shot Sharov once in the stomach and once in the head. There were no other deaths reported in the incident. Following the shooting, the suspect allegedly got into a car and drove away. 35-year-old Ivan Razzhivin was arrested a short time later. Police state the weapon used in the murder was not registered.

Sharov played for the local hockey club "Kolos" in the Chelyabinsk region of Russia. He is the second young hockey player to die in Russia in just over a week. 23-year-old Roman Didur was stabbed to death following an incident outside a café in Moscow on Sunday, April 24th.
