Last year's World Championship host, Latvia, is adding a big name to their roster for this year's tournament.

In a video posted on their official Instagram account, the Latvian Ice Hockey Federation announced that goaltender Elvis Merzlikins will join the team in the coming days ahead of the World Championship next week in Finland.

*The following is translated from Latvian*

"Elvis is back. The Latvian goalkeeper will join the national team this week and start preparing for the world championship"

Merzlikins, 28, hasn't represented his country since the 2019 IIHF World Championship where, in five games, he had a record of 1-3-0 with a 2.78 GAA and a .914 save percentage.

Latvia will open their 2022 IIHF World Championship schedule on Friday, May 13th at 9:20 a.m. ET against the United States.
