With both nations being banned from the upcoming World Championship due to Russia's invasion of Ukraine, Russia and Belarus faced off in an exhibition game over the weekend.

With the game late in the third period, Belarus was on the powerplay and pulled their goalie to give themselves a 6 on 4. Belarus' centerman poked the puck towards Russian goaltender Dmitry Nikolaev, who then shot the puck down the ice and into the empty net to give his country a 4-2 lead.

Belarus and Russia will watch the 2022 World Championship from the sidelines as they were replaced by Austria and France. It's unclear when both nations could be reinstated by the International Ice Hockey Federation, but it likely won't be until Russia ends their invasion of Ukraine.
