With their playoff hopes hanging by a thread, the Vegas Golden Knights took a loss Monday night that could come back to haunt them at the end of the season. Vegas fell 3-2 to the New Jersey Devils, a team way outside of playoff contention, and now find themselves three points back of LA for third in the Pacific Division and four points outside of a wild card spot in the Western Conference with just five games left to play. Following the game, head coach Peter DeBoer laid the blame squarely on goaltender Robin Lehner.

"This time of year you are looking for your guy to be better than the guy at the other end, and tonight that wasn't the case," said DeBoer.

He also thought Lehner let in soft goals.

"I'm not sure either goal they scored on is a good chance," he said.

Lehner wasn't exactly awful, letting in three goals on 28 shots for a .893 save percentage. However, he was definitely not as good as Devils' goaltender Andrew Hammond. "Hamburgler" turned away 42 of 44 shots to finish the night with a .955 SV%.

Vegas will need to be just about flawless in the time left in this season, or deal with missing the playoffs for the first time in the team's history. The Golden Knights' playoff probability is now at 21 percent.
