The U.S. Anti-Doping Agency announced a six month sanction on Minnesota State Goaltender & Hobey Baker winner Dryden McKay:

McKay's need to undergo testing came when he was tapped as an alternate goalie for the US Olympic Team in the Beijing Olympics.

Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman possessed the story about a week ago, but was unable to publish it until USADA's findings were made public. The full story is here, and it's a wild one:

As Friedman reports, McKay took an immune boosting supplement that contained a banned substance, but the label did not include any mention of this substance. Only due to his ability to produce a sealed sample of this supplement was his sentence reduced from four years to six months.

USADA's announcement revealed that under the law as it's written, Dryden legally played all of his games, so his Hobey Baker Award should be safe.

However, this is a breaking story with further details sure to arise. Stay tuned.
