Today, the Maple Leafs announced the signing of C Nick Abruzzese, the team's 2019 4th round selection, to an entry-level-contract. Abruzzese & Harvard fell at the hands of Minnesota St. in the opening round of the D1 NCAA National Hockey Championship, which led to his decision to sign a pro-contract. The contract begins effective immediately, burning the first year of the deal ending in 2023. Abruzzese's role on the team is unclear at the moment, but the idea is that he will skate with the team before making a final decision on his fate for this season.

Abruzzese's stats with the Crimson are exceptional. He's scored 23g-54a-77p in 59 GP. Consider him another decent draft pick under Kyle Dubas and another talented player in Toronto's ranks.

There aren't many excuses for the Leafs this season, as seemingly everything depends on them advancing even once in the postseason. But something tells me the Leafs' faithful won't be satisfied with a second round exit either...
