Paper moves have managed to clear up some much needed cap space for the Vegas Golden Knights. Forward Reilly Smith, who has been on injured reserve since March 14th, has now been moved to long-term injured reserve. He has a knee injury. In addition, Zach Hayes has been sent to the minors. This has helped clear up $6,935,833 in usable LTI space.

Vegas has also removed defenceman Alec Martinez from IR. He's been out since November dealing with various injuries.

Th Golden Knights have been scrambling to find cap room since the failed trade of Evgenii Dadonov due to his no-trade clause. The team attempted to pick up the contract of Ryan Kesler from Anaheim in the move. Kesler is essentially retired and his salary would have been moved right to LTIR. Without that, Vegas is still going to need to get creative as names like Mark Stone and Max Pacioretty still need to be activated at some point. The Knights could wait until the playoffs when the salary cap no longer matters. However, there's no guarantee they'll be making the post-season right now.
