The Montreal Canadiens announced a pair of injury updates on Friday involving forwards Brendan Gallagher and Jonathan Drouin.

Gallagher, 29, suffered a lower-body injury against the Dallas Stars on March 17th. He left the game, but did return, but hasn't played since. The Canadiens say that Gallagher will be out for one week with the injury.

In 43 games this season, Gallagher has fourteen points (five goals, nine assists), 49 penalty minutes, and is a minus-eleven.

The earliest Gallagher could possibly return to Montreal's line-up is Saturday, April 2nd when the Canadiens head to Tampa Bay to battle the Lightning in a rematch of the 2021 Stanley Cup Final.

As for Jonathan Drouin, he's been placed on injured reserve with an upper-body injury. The Canadiens say that the 26-year-old is isolating at home after coming into contact with someone who has tested positive for COVID-19. They add that he'll be out indefinitely.

Drouin, a native of Sainte-Agathe (Quebec) only returned to Montreal's line-up last Saturday against Ottawa after suffering a wrist injury in late-January. In 34 games this season, Drouin has twenty points (six goals, fourteen assists), 23 penalty minutes, and is a minus-nine.

The Canadiens will be back in action on Saturday night when they host their rivals, the Toronto Maple Leafs, on Hockey Night in Canada. Puck drop is set for 7 p.m. ET on CBC.
