Jokerit Helsinki, a Finnish club that was formerly in the KHL, is looking to return to the SM-Liiga and with that potential move, they're also interested in bringing in a big name as their general manager.

According to Finnish-based news outlet Ilta-Sanomat, Teemu Selanne is interested in joining the team as their new general manager, if changes are made at the ownership level. Jokerit Helsinki is currently owned 60% by former NHLer Jari Kurri and 40% by Russian company Norilsk Nickel. There are reports that Kurri no longer wants to be in the public spotlight.

The following is translated from Finnish

"Solid insider information suggests that puck legend Teemu Selänne is interested in the role of the Jokers' lead figure if there is a new Finnish ownership base for the club. Or at least the embodiment of the Joker phenomenon of years ago is apparently ready to negotiate.

One informal discussion has already taken place. So yes, Teemu has at least some interest, and if there are really changes in the club's ownership arrangements, it's likely that some of the other Jokers' ex-players will also be interested in getting involved one way or another."

Selanne's representatives are also reportedly meeting with officials from the SM-Liiga regarding a return for Jokerit Helsinki, who hasn't played in Finland's top division since 2014.

Selanne, 51, spent parts of five seasons with Jokerit Helsinki in the late-80's/early-90's prior to the start of his NHL career. He also started the 1994-95 season with Jokerit Helsinki due to the NHL's lockout.
