Brett Kulak is on the move. According to Frank Seravalli of DailyFaceoff, the Edmonton Oilers have acquired defenceman Brett Kulak from the Montreal Canadiens. TSN's Bob McKenzie is reporting that 26-year-old defenceman William Lagesson will be heading to Montreal in the deal.

Kulak, 28, was in his fourth year with the Montreal Canadiens after they picked him up from the Calgary Flames on October 1st, 2018. In 56 games this season, Kulak has put up thirteen points (three goals, ten assists), 33 penalty minutes, and is a minus-ten.

The Edmonton (Alberta) native brings some depth to the Oilers d-core, can play on either the second or third pairing, and can also play on the penalty kill. Kulak moves the puck quite well too.

He's in the final year of his three-year contract and has a cap hit of $1.85 million. Kulak will become an unrestricted free agent in July.

Lagesson, a native of Gothenburg (Sweden), has appeared in 30 games this season for the Oilers, tallying four assists, thirteen penalty minutes, and is a plus-one.
