According to Frank Seravalli of DailyFaceoff, the Minnesota Wild have traded goaltender Kaapo Kahkonen to the San Jose Sharks in exchange for defenceman Jacob Middleton.

The moves comes not long after the Wild went out and added 2021 Vezina Trophy winner Marc-André Fleury from the Chicago Blackhawks for a conditional first round pick.

One interesting note with this trade is that if Kahkonen plays one more game in the NHL, he loses his waiver exemption status.

In 25 games this season for the Wild, Kahkonen has a record of 12-8-3 with 2.87 GAA, and a .910 save percentage.

Middleton, 26, has played in 45 games this season for San Jose, tallying nine points (three goals, six assists), 69 penalty minutes, and is a plus-three.
