The Tampa Bay Lightning have made another acquisition as the team attempts to make it three Stanley Cups in a row. The team has picked up forward Nick Paul from the Ottawa Senators. The return is Mathieu Joseph and a fourth round pick in 2024.

As part of the deal, the Sens retain 44.5 percent of Paul's salary.

There have been reports over the last week that Ottawa and Paul, who is 27, had been trying to come to terms on a new deal, but simply couldn't get there. Paul reportedly wanted in the vicinity of $2.5 million a year for the next four years, but the Sens weren't willing to give it to him. He becomes an unrestricted free agent at the end of this season.

Joseph is a former fourth round pick in 2015. The 25-year-old has eight goals and 18 points in 58 games this season.
